Busy Busy Busy!

Wednesday, October 19th, 2011

Just a quick post to tell you we’re super busy!  I’ve been working hard trying to keep up with everyone’s emails and focusing intently on getting sessions edited and uploaded for all my lovely clients!  I really do love you guys!

Let’s just think about where I would be without you………since there’s certain bills I pay vs. what the hubby pays for:

Car less (or driving my old white 1993 Toyota Camry ) , pretty hungry since I do most of our grocery shopping , no one could ever call or text me! , I wouldn’t have internet to post gorgeous pictures and keep you updated! , my baby wouldn’t have his daily meds or be seen by any doctors , I would still be shooting with my Minolta film camera …….. oh my goodness I’m just going to stop that list right there!!!!!

SOOOOOO big big big hugs to all my awesome and patient clients!  I love you!

Here’s a few things we’ve been working on!

Adrienne will be graduating in 2012!"

Jennifer and Ryan are now happily married

Todd and Ashleigh have welcomed this sweet boy into the world!"

Enjoy!

Renisha // Arkansas Portrait Photographers

Wednesday, May 18th, 2011

This was a very personal session for me!  There once was this girl that lived across from me at my first and only dorm experience at UCA.  It was the end of the semester and finals were approaching.  She went home and we received the terrible news that she had been in an awful car wreck and was now at the hospital and would be paralyzed.  I decided against traveling the short distance to Little Rock as I hadn’t known her for very long and it really was a time to leave her with her family and close friends.  I never heard from her or saw her again but had often wondered about her and what she was up to.  The other day I had a phone call from El Dorado, AR.  As I was checking my voicemails I couldn’t believe what I was hearing……HER name!!!!  Since I knew she was from El Dorado and she had a very memorable name I knew this was the same girl!  I immediately returned her call and she had NO IDEA who I was or that she had called me!!!!!!  After a little reminding of myself and my maiden name we both were in shock at the coincidence of her calling me!  She could have contacted a million other photographers in our area!  Truly this was amazing and I was so excited to get to see her the day of our shoot!  We started talking and it was like nothing had changed!  She’s such a strong individual and she’s doing big things for those around her!  She takes clients who are in the same position as she once was and gives them the encouragement and guidance they need to get started and live independently!  She is about to graduate with her Masters Degree from UofA and she lives and drives on her own!  This girl has some serious faith and I’m pretty sure the heavens had something in mind when they joined us back together!  I’m so glad that my talents and services could unite us and that I could document such a great milestone in her life!  Congratulations Renisha you are such a great inspiration!

Mother’s Day Ideas!

Monday, May 2nd, 2011

I just want to help out all the boys that lurk around our blog today!  FYI Mother’s Day is this Sunday May 8th!

These ideas are strictly things I would like to receive as a gift so take that into consideration that these may not be for everyone!

Birth Month Flower Necklaces

Birth month flowers for mom!  What a great twist on sending flowers!

Mother Nestling Birds Necklace

For the mom that already has all her kiddos!  What a cute alternative to the necklace with all the birthstones!

I think I just really like this font?  You could layer them too for all your kids names!

Pretty sure for me this would be the best gift out there!  I know it’s not for everyone but Forever 21 has some great options on tops and accessories!

PB Basic 2-Piece Sectional, Polyester Wrap Cushions, Washed Linen/Cotton White

Pottery Barn white couches…..yes please!  Yes I realize I have children but that’s what the white slipcovers are for to remove and wash!  (ok so I realize this is a HUGE gift for mother’s day but maybe there’s someone out there that wants to overdo it this year?!?!!)

Large Gold Fancy

See’s Candies!  LOVE them!  I know I’m not much of a chocolate person but I can’t resist some See’s!

Small Lollypop Box

Another favorite of mine from See’s is these Lollypops!  Actually  I think I might prefer these over chocolates……  Personally my favorite is the butterscotch!

Then of course any cute electronic in white is acceptable but really this would top them all a white iPhone 4!

Product Image

Let’s not forget the card!  I heard there’s prepaid postage on some cards this year!  What a great idea!

These girls had the right idea!  A photoshoot with mom!  Contact us if you’d like to schedule something like this with your family!  erikadotson@gmail.com

Lastly I would like to give you an example of something you DON’T buy for Mother’s Day!

OXO International 30081 Snap Lock Can Opener, Can Opener

Yes I got one of these two years ago!  Bad idea!

Hope you enjoyed my Mother’s Day ideas!

Enjoy!

Girls Day Out // Fayetteville Portrait Photographers

Thursday, April 21st, 2011

Last week I met up with Teri and her two daughters Kate and Britni.  It just so happened to be Kate’s birthday and it was such a beautiful day to hang out and take pictures!  Kate is such a beautiful young lady and she has been interested in photography for quite some time, well really since I’ve “facebook” known her (this was our first official meet).  She contacted me soon after I started to attempt my 365 day self portrait project (for probably the third time) and that’s when I saw her project in action……although she’s super awesome and she actually finished hers!  Guess what she’s on round two of what she calls a photo a day for a year!  Be sure to stop and check out her blog!  Kate is a college student at the UofA and she’s going to be going to Beijing this summer!  I can’t wait to see those photos she posts while she’s over there!  Teri is a Chiropractor and Britni is studying Sociology at the UofA as well, she has two adorable children that grace the walls of Kate’s blog!

We started out at a local Apple Farm on the east side of Springdale and accidentally got sprayed by something that wasn’t poisonous but wasn’t good for us and shouldn’t really be touched or inhaled according to the farmer.  He advised us to wait for him to finish…….once he kept on going down the aisles we decided in the best interest of light that we would risk it and keep shooting!  Good thing because we never saw him again!  After that fiasco along with trudging along this beautiful pink chair that was missing one leg we headed over to a spot that these gals found.  What a find!!!!

A funny little story about this pink chair…..Teri called me the morning of the shoot and began to explain to me all about this chair…..I interrupted her in the middle and asked if it was missing a leg in the back and she said yes!  Husband and I just so happened to pass by this same chair the night before on our way home and I mentioned to him that I really wanted to stop and grab it but he wouldn’t let me!

We’re still chuggin along over here at Erika Dotson Photography!  It’s been such a great year with many wonderful new clients!  We are so blessed to have such amazing people choose us to be their special photographer!   It’s been a pleasure getting to know you and work along side you!  THANKS!  :)

Here’s some of the things we’ve been working on!

Arkansas Family Photographer

Yep you should recognize that gal in the red scarf…Donnally…..and her gorgeous family!  Had the pleasure to visit my hometown for a few hours as I drove down to Mena for their family portrait session!  They have such a beautiful home with lovely surroundings, what a treat it was to shoot there!

This is Craig, we went out for part two of his senior portraits to Lake Fayetteville.  I love that spot!  He’s a Springdale Senior, in case you missed it the first time around!  Congratulations….again!  :)

Arkansas Family Photographer

Here’s Mr. Jack with his mommy and daddy.   I traded out some babysitting time with this family!  What a great plan and we’re both happy with what we got!  :)  Dusty and Stephanie have been my hubby’s friends for years so I adopted them too…..I’ll admit they are good company!  :)  Thanks guys!

Then the Crees siblings!  This is Sam.  We know each other from high school.  Sam and his sisters wanted to give their parents a meaningful gift this year so they booked us for a sibling session!   I love that their parents have no idea!  What a GREAT gift idea!!!

Well that’s what we’ve been working on!  :)
