Hey everyone as promised I am posting more images from Cristy and John’s sealing in the Draper Utah Temple!  I got to tag along with Doug Larson their Utah Wedding Videographer and he showed me all the hot spots at the temple grounds.  Cristy and John had so much family and friends there to support them and witness their beautiful sealing!  The weather was perfect, other than being a tad on the cold side (but no one can tell that from pictures!  :)  Cristy and John are such a beautiful couple inside and out and I’m pretty sure someone has got big plans for them while they are here!!!  After their sealing they attended their reception held at John’s parents house in Heber City.  Their family did lots of work preparing for the reception and it looked great! Congratulations Cristy and John! Utah weddings Utah Weddings I just love how happy they are in this shot!!!  Exactly how they should be after leaving the temple! Utah Wedding Photography I love how John steals one from Cristy to show off for the camera!  :)  Shots like this make me smile! Utah Weddings Beautiful couple at a beautiful temple! Utah Weddings This is definitely my favorite shot of the day! Utah Weddings I just love the lighting in this little nook!  The warm glow from those doors is amazing! Utah Wedding Photographer Utah Wedding Photographer Here’s the famous cupcakes!  All of John’s sister in laws spent the entire day creating these beautiful little cupcakes so I had to give them justice and feature them on the blog! Utah Wedding Photographer So who would have thought this old rusty chair that I spotted outside would make the perfect backdrop for Cristy’s bouquet? Utah Wedding Photographer Or how about a tree stump to provide such a detailed ring shot? Utah Wedding Photographer I love how happy everyone is in this photo as the couple enjoys their first dance together. Utah Wedding Photographer This image is priceless to me…..it’s as if John has had a moment to really stop and think as he holds his new wife close.  I can see so much love and care for her here. Utah Wedding Photographer Let’s end with this playful shot of dad and son making sure they “get” the new couple as they make their get a way! Enjoy! -erika

Monday’s Favorites

May 3, 2010

Today is the last day for this color theme we’ve been featuring and the final color is…….

BLUE!  (saved the best for last! ) – if you haven’t figured it out just yet BLUE is my favorite color!  :)

BLUE

These are darling shoes and would be your perfect “something blue”!!!!!  Just think BLUE shoes!!!!  YES!!!

*Note they aren’t available any longer but were from J.Crew

What a simple cute little bridesmaid dress!  This is also from J.Crew (if you haven’t browsed through their wedding portion of their site it’s a must!)

I just love this simple blue bouquet!  Pretty sure these are grape-hyacinth flowers.

Parasails are in this year ladies!  Take the plunge….. invest…….tell your photographer…….get great images!!!!

I love these blue guest cards!  I love guest cards in general!  What a great detail to add to your wedding!!!  We photographers love love love details!

This blue ribbon is just too too adorable if you aren’t bold enough to go with blue shoes for your “something blue” I love this tradition of the blue bow tie or sewn into the dress!  TOO cute!  Be sure to tell your photographer if you go this route!

These are just too too cute!  Little packets full of rice (I know I know rice kills birds yada yada yada) But they still look cute!  Maybe if you worried about that you could fill yours with confetti or something?

This is all for now.  I’ve got lots of work to get to.  Let’s see let me just list some things out……..

3 Engagement sessions to edit, 1 senior session to edit, a wedding to backup and start editing, and a bridal shoot this afternoon!!!  What a busy busy day/week!!!  I love it though!

Enjoy!

Monday’s Favorites

April 26, 2010

Hey there you should be proud of me posting on a Monday again!  :)

Today’s color theme will be……

ORANGE:

(then we only have blue and purple left!)

Starting off with a very nice bright orange v-neck sleeveless tea length dress for your bridesmaids.  I’m pretty sure this is a flattering cut on most women so maybe you should check it out for your list of bridesmaids!

This is just too too adorable!  Look how simple this is but it looks stunning!  Khaki tux + cute orange tie + simple orange boutonniere = beautiful wedding!!!

weddings-orange-tulips-peach-roses-table-decor-lg.jpg

These are nice pretty flowers from Arenaflowers.com I just love the addition of the orange tulips!

You’ve gotta do a butterfly release if you are having an orange wedding!!!!!  How awesome would those images be!?!?!?!?

These are some cute little orange flats that would go great under your wedding dress!

Of course this is gorgeous!  I can’t wait to have some weddings that have sit down dinners soon!  There’s just so many more detail shots that make the whole wedding day!

From instyle.com, Leann Warnest Photography, jupiterimages.com

Love the idea of having a signature orange colored drink at your wedding!  That would cut down on costs since you’d only have to offer one drink!

That’s all for now.

Enjoy!

Monday’s Favorites

April 19, 2010

I am actually posting this on a Monday for once!!!!  :)  YAY.

I had a few color requests this week but I’m going to go with…..

BLACK:

Couture chic wedding cake by Peggy Porschen

I love this wedding cake!  I love the idea that you could make it personal by adding a little broach that was your grandmothers!  I love those little details!!!

Another Forever 21 find!  I love that store……seriously this is just $10.80!?!?!?

This too is from Forever 21 and I think it would be a perfect accessory for your special wedding hairstyle!

Anemone bouquet

This wedding bouquet is perfect for a black themed wedding!  I saw these and totally fell in love.  In case you are curious these flowers are known as anemones and they are beautiful!

Product Image Women's Mossimo® Isha Satin Pumps - Black

This would be a cute shoe from Target for just $22.99!

clear bottle candle holders

I thought this would be a nice alternative to flowers for your wedding reception.  Lots of people try cutting costs on centerpieces by not having flowers everywhere so why not start collecting wine bottles and candlesticks!!!  With a little thrifting too I’m sure you could gather all you needed!!!!

The Original Silver Lingerie, Wedding Dress Hanger

This really has nothing to do with a black wedding theme but more about some ranting to follow.  I just love love love these hangers from Lila Frances on Etsy.  Your wedding photographer will want pictures of your wedding gown before you slip into it so why would you show up with the ugly plastic hanger that it came with?  Why not spend a few bucks and invest in a nice pretty hanger?  You can get  a 10 pack of these pretty silky hangers at Target for $12.99.

Product Image

Ok I’m done with my hanger venting…………let’s continue.

Product Image Target Limited Edition Women's Marian Shift Dress - Ebony

What a cute bridesmaid dress from Target!!!!  I love the cut here and it keeps your black theme more classy instead of getting too casual.  Take a look through Targets dresses you’ll be sure to find lots of choices for all your girls as well as your budget!

What a perfect boutonniere to tie in the anemones!!!!  Or check out this DIY project to make your own!!!!

I have a deep love for candy bars that look classy such as this one!!!  Personally the candies/treats should all be the same color.  I actually had one of these at our first Christmas party and it was a hit!  Lots of work to find all white items but it was totally worth it, it was so cute!!!!  (Wish I would have taken some pictures!!!)

I just recently heard that  Anthropologie  and The Limited will be offering wedding gowns soon!!!!!

Anthropologie will unveil the line on Valentine’s Day 2011. Expect wedding dresses to fall in between $750-$5,000 and they will also carry bridesmaid options.

The Limited brand will debut two styles in June and another three in January 2011, all under $500.

Those will be wonderful places to get wedding attire, I can’t wait!!!!

That’s all for now!

Enjoy!

Auto Parts

How about renting a red classic car on your wedding day, or better yet you know someone that owns one?!?!?  I’m sure they’d love to be your chauffeur on your special day!  What a great way to get your favorite Uncle involved in your wedding!!!

Here’s a fun DIY project for your wedding:  These would make a great addition to a candy buffet for your guests!!!!

Fire Red Candy Apples

Ingredients
8 medium apples, green or red
2 3/4 cup(s) sugar
1 1/4 cup(s) light corn syrup
1 1/2 cup(s) water
1 teaspoon(s) vanilla
15 drops red food coloring
Wash and dry apples, remove stems and insert a wooden stick into the bottom (not stem end) of the apples; approximately 2/3 of the way into the apple. Set apples aside.
In saucepan, combine sugar, corn syrup and water. Heat slowly on low heat, stirring constantly. Once mixture starts to boil, stop stirring and leave boiling until candy mixture reaches 300°F on a candy thermometer, or until a small amount of mixture dropped into cold water separates into breakable threads.
Remove from heat and stir in food coloring. Wait until mixture stops bubbling, then add vanilla, mix well.
Dip each apple into the mixture while mixture is still hot, swirl to cover apple evenly. You will need to work fast to get all the apples dipped before mixture becomes too hard.
Place dipped apple on greased cookie sheet or greased wax paper.

A pair of innocent ivory and garden green flower SHOE CLIPS, filled with Swarovski crystals. For your wedding, favorite shoes and life.

I am in love with this idea for place cards!  I imagine this could be a  very easy DIY project as well!

Green, Blue, Wedding, Apple, Place cards, Massachusetts, Worcester

This bridesmaid dress is from recycledbride.com what a great idea to get all the bridesmaids a similar color dress but different styles.  Also it seems to be a really useful site to reuse some wedding items that were once used for one day!  Now that’s what I call a “green” dress!!!  ;)

Jenny_yoo_marni_dress_731_337

Mondays Favorites

March 29, 2010

Hey I’ve got a lot on my mind today and as I mentioned last week I’d like to sponsor a new color each week, last week was yellow, so I’ll skip over to pink this week.  I’ve got a few DIY projects as well as ideas on how to cut costs.

PINK

I just love vintage things so I saw these and immediately thought of a cute little bride with pastels for wedding colors.  Of course I’ll probably always find something from Forever 21.  Be sure to check out their hairgoods and jewelry they just have so many great inexpensive items that compliment any bride!

Also found this dress from Forever 21 that I felt would make a pretty romantic looking bridesmaids dress.  A bonus would be that they are super cute and your girls would get lots of use out of them!!!

Here’s an inspiration board, so please please please remember that colors look much more pieced together when you are using similar colors instead of choosing something like bright orange and royal blue, sorry those colors don’t compliment each other unless you are a HUGE Gators fan and so is your future spouse!   Inspiration boards are a good idea to help you coordinate everything and see how it will all look together.  In fact I have my own inspiration board for engagement shoots as well as weddings to ponder on and get ideas before I leave the house!  :)

Thought I should share this DIY project for a wedding cake, I’m sure you’d save money by having a plain and boring cake……with that said you could purchase these stencils to give your simple cake a bit of glam!  What a great project for that special someone you still want to feel important on your wedding day but can’t be a bridesmaid!

1-wedding-dress-bcbg-size-2

Can you believe this dress is only $100?  It’s so gorgeous!

hanging-pom-pom2

These are super cute and yet another DIY project!!!  :)  Check out here for instructions!

Michigan_DIY

Yet ANOTHER do it yourself project!  :)  I love this idea and it makes for an awesome photo when you two leave your ceremony together!!!  Can you imagine…..flower petals flying in the air as you two are arm in arm leaving your ceremony?  Beautiful I must say!!!!

DIY Bags

Sack lunches at your wedding?!?!?!  The idea has never look cuter!!!  Check out this DIY project!  Anyone planning a summer afternoon wedding?  Perfect!

vintage SOFT PETAL peeptoe cutout heels

Pretty sure these are some cute little vintage shoes to go with that dress earlier!!!  Best part……only $36!!!

Three Chained Roses bib statement necklace in cream, gray and terra cotta red

We can’t do without an Etsy item!!!  What an adorable statement necklace!!!

That’s it for today, I’ve got some real life things to attend to!!!  :)  I hope you enjoy and if you’ve checked this out please leave me some blog love below!

Enjoy!

I want to focus on every color in the rainbow at some point but I think today will be YELLOW!!!

Find these adorable dresses at Forever 21 for your bridesmaids!

What an adorable idea!!!!!  Love love love lining the walkway with lemons!!!

I thought these shoes from Payless would look cute with the girls’ dresses.

American EagleKendal Canvas Knot Wedge

Oh you gotta have lemonade to make the wedding complete!!!

Lemonade
From Martha Stewart

3 cups lemon or lime juice, about 20 lemons or 25 limes freshly squeezed
2 cups superfine sugar
4 cups cold water
4 cups ice
2 lemons or limes, thinly sliced for garnish

1. Into a large serving container, strain the citrus juice, mix it with sugar, and stir until the sugar is dissolved.

2. Add 4 cups cold water and stir again until well combined. Add ice to fill and a few lemon or lime slices.

Makes 10 cups.

And these would be wonderful shoes for the bride!!!!

What a cute bouquet!!!!

What a great bridesmaid gift from Etsy!

Yellow Rose and Swarovski Crystal Pearl Bracelet

Cute socks!  What a great idea for a fun shot!

yellow and gray menswear

And of course you gotta have a yellow tie to coordinate!

I’m thinking the tie would look best with a grey tux!

Instead of one big wedding cake you could offer cute little pies or cakes displayed at various heights to add interest!

Lemon Meringue Pie

These would be a good addition to the church doors.

Learn how to make these DIY napkin folds yourself!

What an adorable boutonniere!

Monday’s Favorites

March 17, 2010

Alright I love doing this and while I missed the actual Monday mark, I’m posting it anyways!

016Bny-510456

These ice lanterns are a total do it yourself project for anyone planning a winter wedding!  How cute!!!

You need two buckets, one smaller then the other.

Some greens, I love to use olive branches.

Fill the biggest bucket half full with water.

Place the smaller bucket inside it and place some rocks or something heavy to keep in in place.

Add more water, the water level should be to the top.

Add your branches to the sides of the bucket.

Use some tape to keep the small bucket in the middle of the big one.

Now set the whole thing outside to freeze.

Once its frozen, remove the small bucket first and then the large one.

You now have a beautiful ice lantern.

Place a votive candle inside and voila, the party can start.

110509_apples_JDail_650

What a cute idea!  And just for all you brides, details like this make your wedding rock that much harder!!!  Photographers love little details!

082109_vasescollage_300

I love how they pulled these centerpieces together!  I usually get stuck in that rut that these centerpieces things have to be super fancy, but these are totally cute and another DIY!!!!

Steps for a Full Wrap Treatment
Step 1:Measure paper around the vase. Leave about 1″ on the neck for a ribbon treatment.
Step 2:Cut the paper. Adhere one edge of the paper to the glass with glue dots. Wrap the other side around and secure with more glue dots.
Step 3:Cover the top rough edges with a grosgrain ribbon.

Steps for a Middle Band Treatment
Step 1:Measure paper around the vase.
Step 2:Cut first band to measure 5″, second to measure 3.5″.
Step 3:Stick first wrap to the vessel with glue dots. Layer on the 3″ band, again using glue dots.
Step 4:Top it off with ribbon treatment.

Fans

Anything personalized is super cute but these are adorable.  If you planned on a wedding in the summer and thought of these fans think how much your guests would love to have this keepsake!!!

I saw these at Forever 21 and instantly thought they would be perfect for a stylish bride!!!

This idea struck me as an important one for all couples planning a wedding.  I like to ask “what is your photography budget”, and I usually get this response “well we really haven’t thought about it” or “we don’t really have one”.  My first piece of advice for you is make one!!!  It will be the most important thing you do to keep your wedding costs down and be able to get what you actually want.  Wedding expenditures add up and quickly but if you are prepared with a budget that will help.  Also it’s a great idea to start budgeting together as a couple, since now you’ll probably have some sort of a joint account.  This website isn’t just geared toward weddings either but it’s a great way to keep track of what you are saving!  Be sure to check it out smartypig.com

Enjoy!

My Mondays Favorite….

March 8, 2010

I honestly just didn’t get the time to do the traditional Monday’s Favorites tonight, things like work and spending time with my hubby were a little more important on my to do list, I apologize.  Anyways I came up with a different plan for today though!  Here’s my Monday’s Favorite……..

I love Burts Bees chapstick!  If you’ve never tried it, it’s a must, I promise you’ll never look back!

SANY0668

This photo was taken with a point and shoot camera, which brings up a little photo tip for all you newly engaged girls…….do you remember trying to focus on your new ring up close but it was always blurry?  Well I have a solution for you!  That little flower symbol in your menu options is the trick, the flower indicates that the camera is shooting in macro, which really just means it can focus close up.  So there’s your tip, now go out and try what you’ve just learned and let me know how it goes!

Enjoy!
