DIY Idea // Arkansas Weddings

Thursday, January 27th, 2011

Ok I really really meant to get this whole DIY project off the ground this week and make it happen…….well it didn’t, you know those challenges of having a little baby, yep those, they got in my way.

So instead of posting my DIY project with pretty pictures I took I will give you a link to something similar and then share my vision…..hope that works!

DIY // Wedding Pennant Banner

http://www.oncewed.com/7483/diy-wedding/decor/diy-wedding-pennant-banner/

I had planned on doing this banner of flags, (although I did not plan on sewing them, rather hot gluing them) in reds, greys, blacks, and whites to coordinate with Titan’s bedroom.  I think this would look adorable in a child’s room but also it’s an awesome wedding idea too, especially if you are planning a vintage inspired wedding!!!!  Well come to think of it if you wanted to have a Razorback themed wedding (without going all tacky on me) that would be adorable too!

Enjoy!

What to Wear Wednesday// Snow Day Session

Wednesday, January 19th, 2011

I LOVE snow days.  And I’m sure you LOVE snow days too.  As both a teacher and photographer, I love them for different reasons.  Miss Campbell, the teacher, loves getting to sleep in past 6:00, and Donnally, the photographer, loves getting great shots of everything covered in white.  Erika had the great idea of doing portrait sessions when it snows!!!  How fun would that be? Waaaaay fun.  And it would make for some awesome pictures!  Here’s an idea for a cute outfit you could wear on a snow day session!

DIY Christmas Wreath

Saturday, December 11th, 2010

It is the Christmas season and the season to get your decorations up!  I’ve been working on this little project for a week (it really doesn’t take that long….I guess unless you have a newborn and a business?)

Supplies Needed

Please ignore the fact that my hot glue gun is from the 1990′s…..

These are the supplies you’ll need:

Muli sized peal beads

Scissors

Wreath

White felt

Hot glue gun/glue

Step 1: Cut Felt into small squares.  (I used various sizes of squares to get large and small flowers)

Cut felt

Step 2: Cut corners.  (Probably the only time in your life you get to hear that!)

Cut corners

Step 3: Cut squares into spirals.

Just another view so you get the idea…

Step 4:  Pinch the inside of the spiral together (I glued mine for extra stability) and start wrapping the felt around the center.

Step 5: You will have a flower as seen below.

IMG_0021

Step 6: Glue the end to the flower for stability

IMG_0023

Step 7: You’ll have a flower…..

IMG_0027

Step 8:  Keep going until you have SEVERAL flowers!

IMG_0028

Step 9:  You guessed it glue the backs of your flowers to the wreath, alternating between larger and smaller flowers

IMG_0029

Step 10: This step could really be optional but I added pearl beads inside each flower on my wreath.

IMG_0034

Step 11:  Just keep adding until your finished!!!  (If anyone tries this DIY I would like to see how long it took you consecutively to finish it up and see pictures of your final product!)

(FYI….I didn’t have quite enough felt so I’m going to go back in and add flowers in those bare spots, I just wanted to get this posted today!)

Enjoy!

DIY – Felt Bowties

Thursday, November 18th, 2010

So I’ve already mentioned that we collaborated upon our survey responses and decided to change things up a bit….that includes some DIY projects!!!  Apparently there is quite a few of you loyal blog readers out there that are looking for just that, so once a week we’ll deliver!  I’m pretty excited about this and can’t wait to have an excuse to try out some new projects!

:Felt Bowties:

Supplies

scissors  (free-already have)

felt   ($.29 per sheet)  —–>  I’m thinking I could have made 4 total bow ties with one sheet.

hot glue gun  (free- already have)

alligator clip  (I used a bobby pin since I failed to remember to purchase this item but I imagine they are fairly cheap)

Estimated total= most likely under $1

I honestly spent a total of 5 min or less (wasn’t consecutive due to tending to a little one) so don’t judge my pictures or the fact that the final result picture includes a shirt Titan already wore this week…..  :)  (It was the only shirt that would look good with grey!!!)

IMG_8025

Step 1: Pretty obvious….but it is important that you keep your line STRAIGHT as you cut!!!

IMG_8028

Step 2:  This little piece is to wrap all the way around (may I suggest this be just a bit longer than mine (barely wrapped all the way around)

IMG_8029

Step 3:  Yay hot glue time!  Fold over the two ends of the single long strip and glue!

IMG_8033

Step 4:  Pinch the sides together creating a cute pleat.

IMG_8034

Step 5:  Take that little piece I said should be longer and glue one end and wrap it around the cinched piece and glue on the other side as well for a polished look.

IMG_8036

Step 6:  This would be where your alligator clip came in (please ignore the bobby pin)  glue some felt to it and then attach to the back of the tie you just created.

IMG_8040

And viola!  I promise it looks much cuter in person and with better lighting and pictures….. boo for trying to do a project in 5 minutes!

IMG_8043

I know I know bad lighting but hey maybe Titan will be a stud at church this weekend?  :)  I guess that depends on if I can get that shirt washed!  he he he

IMG_8047

Thanks for viewing feel free to try this out and email me your pictures!!!

Enjoy!

Shoesday // Fun Flats

Tuesday, November 2nd, 2010

There are plenty of reasons why a bride might decide to wear flat shoes for her wedding.  She might be having her ceremony on grass or sand, or perhaps she just wants to be comfortable.  Though some brides think they will never be able to find cute flats- don’t fret!!  There are actually some great styles out there!  And when you are still dancing at the end of the night instead of limping like the bride who chose to wear sky high stilettos, you will be glad you went with a cute pair of flats!  Check out these sweet styles!
