Hey there! Welcome to Erika Dotson Photography where we shoot mostly weddings and senior portraits out of Fayetteville, Arkansas, but we also take on any other sessions people offer us! :) Our blog follows our personal and professional lifes. So here you will find images of recent wedding couples, our travels, things we find interesting that day, our pets, family portrait sessions, our significant others, engagement sessions, .............. ok you get the point, here we will blog about what's going on daily in our lifes. This site is an informal way for you to get to know all about us and who we are! Sit down and stay awhile! Enjoy.
Erika Dotson Photography is comprised of Erika Dotson owner and photographer as well as our new intern, Donnally Campbell (she's super talented). To make browsing our blog easier we have a search bar, on your right, for you to find something specific.
I made a post about KNWA Throwing a wedding a few weeks ago but now you can go vote for a lucky couple! They will be receiving a free wedding photography package from us!!!……along with some other nice freebees such as free invites from Sincerely Yours and a free wedding planner Jessica Kersey!!! She’s amazing by the way!!!
A few months ago KNWA’s special projects team called me up and asked if I would like to participate in something that totally sounded awesome to me. They are GIVING away a DREAM WEDDING to one lucky couple in our area! How awesome is that?
If you knew from our last Bridal Fair in September 2009 I gave away a free wedding package to Alyssa and Seth who were recently married on Father’s Day! So I immediately jumped on the train at this opportunity!!!
As far as photography is concerned they will be highlighting three photographers: Erika Dotson Photography along with Dale Benfield and David Manning. I have yet to meet David (I have probably seen him in passing and haven’t realized it though!) but I’ve checked out his work and it’s pretty cool. As for Dale he’s pretty awesome if you haven’t met him yet, he’s super friendly and willing to help everyone!
This should be a fun contest so if you are interested go register and vote! Be sure to read the info page first (this contest has certain requirements).
If you just want to check out the submissions you can do that to!
I didn’t forget about our FREE mini session contest, it’s just been a weekend! :)

I held a contest recently in a way to thank all the people who voted for me in recent contests, by having people go vote for them! I thought it was pretty fun. It was valued at $50 and the winner was Ashley Avra which just so happens to be one of our 2010 brides! The winner was also able to choose what they wanted for a $50 value and she of course chose a $50 credit toward a framed engagement or bridal portrait! What a lucky girl huh?!?! I think that’s an awesome idea! Ashley and Jim will be getting married July 17th! They are the first couple I’ve ever had send in their retainer fee and contract before I ever met with them! I must admit I was a bit flattered! I can’t wait to meet with them! So once again Congratulations Ashley Avra for winning our Special Thank You Contest!!!
Hey guys I’m competing in another contest!!! I came so close to winning last time (2nd or 3rd not sure) that I thought I would try my luck again!!
Just go to this blog and look for my name Erika Dotson and scroll to the bottom and submit your vote!!!!
Thank you for all your support! It’s people like you guys that first off keep me going but second off give me these crazy ideas to submit my entry into such contests!!!
I believe that you guys will help me win that scholarship!!!
Hey everyone thank you so much for taking the time to vote and support your friends here on our blog! I know there has been a lot of hard work going on behind the scenes for this contest so thank you! I want to give you some results, but remember the final say so will be announced on Friday so stay tuned…..
Total votes cast 854
226 of them came in for Alyssa
while 627 of them for Meredith
Once again the final winner will be announced on Friday. I want to meet with each contestant and get a personal feel for them before I start handing out offers to come shoot weddings for free! :) I hope you understand….
Great job girls. Both of you had very creative submissions. Thank you for putting so much effort and talent into this contest to make it fun for everyone who participated! I enjoyed reading all the comments that were sent my way and learned so much about you girls through all your friends!
I know there have been way too many posts without photos so I’ve got some for you! These girls are the last of the contestants left and I had them incorporate their images with Erika Dotson Photography somehow and this is what they came up with. I love them and think they are both super cute! Please vote on the one you think is the most original. Voting will end on Tuesday at 8pm.
Thanks for your participation!
Erika
This submission is from Alyssa A. Kilgore:
This submission is from Meredith Ehrhard:
“I hope this is sufficient! Thanks for working with our circumstances and making this fun! Since we started dating a year ago, we have typically been apart about 3 months at time, (a total of about 8 months now) as Sean travels to college campuses across the US speaking to college students for his job. This is the reason we are getting married in December even though we only got engaged a month ago: we can’t stand to be apart any longer and we are ready to hit the road and travel together! We really didn’t want to back out of round 2 even though I am in Arkansas and he is in Georgia right now. So, because we are always up for a challenge, we decided to get real creative and take two separate photos and place them together as one! Hope you enjoy!!”
First off I want to congratulate everyone on their engagement as well as your chance to win this contest. I really enjoyed reading everyone’s stories and while it was very hard to choose it must be done (otherwise I would be known as the “free wedding photographer”!!!!) – doubt my husband would like that!
Originally I was going to choose 5 to progress to the next round but considering we only had 7 people submit stories I am going to only pick 4 to advance….
So congrats to………
Jinny Pattison (in honor of Meredith Ehrhard)
Alyssa Kilgore
Kellie Kirby
Erica Bailey
You are moving on to round two!!!!
You will be emailed with your next directions.
Thank you everyone who voted! I appreciate the publics tremendous response to this contest! Be posted for more to come!
All right everyone! These girls need your votes!!! Read their stories under “Contests” on the toolbar located at the top! Vote for your 5 favorite stories!!! This is for a chance to win a free wedding photography package from us to one of these girls!!! Voting will cease on Oct. 6th at 5pm
Hey everyone if you didn’t win we are still offering 15% off our original packages from now until Oct. 28th 2009! All you’ve gotta do is call us or email us and book a free consultation so we can meet up and discuss what you need photography wise! Your wedding date doesn’t have to be before that date but you’ve gotta book us before that date for the 15% off (that means retainer fee and contract signed so we will hold your date for you).
For the Round One Winners……………..
Hey guys you will be voted on by our staff (which would be Tanja, my momma, my stepdad, my husband, Ellie (my puppy that really can’t read so I’m just including her as part of the family) and myself.
But you will also be voted on by how many comments you can get on your story. So if I were you I would get all your friends to go and vote once they are published!!! Send out the word via twitter, facebook, emails, phone calls, snail mail, myspace, skype, whatever you’ve gotta do to get people to comment on your story!
Please remember just because you had the “most” comments doesn’t necessarily mean you win automatically! The judgement call is still up to us and we’re looking for creativity! The votes will just weigh in percentage wise and help boost your score a little bit!
