So the other day I made a post that I was taking a break for the day to have my maternity pictures taken by Ruthie……the gal that won our Free Mini Session a little while back……..
Here’s the results! I know you’re all dying to see what I look like now…..! :) Only 5 more weeks!

I just love this one with the Red shoes!!! We decided that since Baby Dotson’s room is going to be Razorback themed we wanted some photos to put in there for him!!! :) Plus two U of A Alumni….what else would we have come up with?!?!?

Ding…….Turkey is done!

This last series was my favorite! A big thank you to Ruthie! She did an amazing job!
We wish her the best in her future as a business! Many happy fun and profitable years! (I feel as if I’m giving a toast!)
Enjoy!

Hey there I know the much anticipated post for the day! Today’s picture isn’t going to be good quality at all! My gear was sent with Tanja to shoot our Jamaica wedding with Claire and Aaron and I rented gear for our wedding we had on Sunday with Alyssa and Seth at Pratt Place Inn and Barn. My point and shoot camera that my mom got me for Christmas (it’s funny to me that I wanted a “normal” person’s camera) is with my hubby out in the woods on a horse somewhere for the week. Leaving me with nothing but an iPhone camera for the night…….do you have any idea how hard it is to take a picture of yourself with one of those things?!?!?!? Mission accomplished though!
Week 29:
How big is Baby Dotson this week? He weighs nearly three pounds now and measures about 17 inches. Though he’s getting pretty close to his birth length, he still has to chub out a bit. In fact, over the next 11 weeks, he’ll more than double — or even come close to tripling — his weight (oh wonderful……..). And as he grows and the room in this womb gets tighter, I will be less likely to feel those big kicks and more likely to get poked by an elbow or jabbed by a knee, which I’m not quite sure which I would prefer. They say I’m supposed to be counting his kicks now and that there should be at least 10 movements within an hour……….I don’t think they realize we must have a soccer player on our hands because he kicks like 59.2 times an hour!!!! Baby Dotson’s energy is surging, thanks to the formation of white fat deposits beneath the skin. Baby Dotson is also settling into sleep and waking cycles, though — I don’t think they necessarily coincide with my own. Also this month, all five senses are finally functional, and the brain and nervous system are going through major developments.
We’d like to know what your thoughts for names are……..
We are looking for originality, nothing like Matthew, Tyler, or Andrew.
Also we aren’t interested in popular names like Hayden, Parker, or Peyton.
His middle name will be Jay (in honor of TW’s late brother who passed at 6 months old) and obviously his last name will be Dotson! :)
And now for a pretty picture….

*please ignore the awkwardly HUGE looking arm.

Baby Dotson is the size of a squash!
Enjoy!

Ok so obviously I’ve been a horrible little blogger recently! My sincere apologies! This seems like the only post where it is appropriate to vent and tell you what all has been going on in my life recently! So as many of you know this has been a whirlwind of emotions and new things. I’ve been starting a new job at the hospital where I will be working as a Diet Tech in order to get my foot in the door and start working on an internship of which I still have 3 years before I am no longer eligible to take the RD exam (for those of you who don’t know the lingo that’s quite alright…..RD is Registered Dietitian and I graduated with a degree that would allow me to be one after I complete an internship and pass the exam). Anyways so that’s all been new for me and there have been days that I have had to be there at 5:30am which also you should know that involves just leaving my house at 4:30am!!!! (Not to mention having to still get ready before that!) So obviously with that I have been extremely tired. Moving on…….my mother went on a school trip (yep she’s going back to college and did a study abroad program in Belize!) so it was my job to kinda look after things while she was gone. Well Papa (my stepdad) was supposed to be going on this trip to visit her and vacation when the program was over, he was supposed to leave June 13th. Obviously that didn’t happen since he is still in the hospital after what has been nearly two weeks recovering from pneumonia. I called my mom when they moved Papa from regular care to ICU, I’ll admit I got a bit nervous being the only family that he has up here. This was pretty stressful for me, maybe with a mix of pregnant hormones, I just felt like I couldn’t function. So with that feeling I just sort of put my life on hold for about a week and stayed with him at the hospital. All I could think was how horrible it would be to be stuck there and not be able to do anything or even see a familiar face, that was my motivation to spend hours upon hours sitting in an uncomfortable chair and walking through stinky hallways full of old men (the VA). But now everything seems to be getting much better! First of all my mom is back, that sped up his recovery I’m sure of it! The whole day before I was supposed to pick her up from the airport, every time he would wake up he would ask if I went to get her yet or how much longer? It was so cute! Secondly I no longer have to be the one who sits at the hospital for hours! Don’t get me wrong I’ve still been up there to visit here and there but I don’t feel guilty for leaving anymore! My mom lives a block away so I’m certain she visits alot! ;) And finally I’ve had time to catch up with my life this week. I’ve gotten lots of much needed editing done and now I’m posting my Tummy Tuesday shots! Which is what this whole blog is supposed to be about anyways so let’s get rolling!!!
Ok so I think the last post I made was for week 24 which means I have weeks 25-28 for you!

Ok so we’ll start with week 28 on updates and if you are really interested in finding out what happened between week 24 to now you can go do the research yourself, sorry I’ve got bigger fish to fry right now (I hate fish?)
WEEK 28:
I’m pretty sure this starts a new trimester! I can’t believe we’re already this far! It seriously seems like yesterday we found out and then weeks later told our parents!!!! We’ve been starting to get enrolled in some parenting classes and birthing classes. That makes me quite nervous! Oh that’s another thing I’ve been stressed about is thinking about how he gets out! YIKES!
Baby Dotson is settling into the proper position for birth, with his head facing downward (toward my body’s nearest exit!). Our little work in progress is now about 2.5 pounds and almost 16 inches long (that’s huge!!!!). He’s busy adding new skills such as blinking to an already impressive repertoire of tricks like coughing, sucking, hiccuping (which I’m pretty sure I can tell when he has those!), and taking practice breaths. Baby Dotson’s sleep now includes the REM (rapid eye movement) phase — and that means he could be dreaming already (what do you suppose he’s dreaming about?). Though his lungs are nearly fully mature (which means we can breathe a little easier if he were born now), our baby still has plenty of growing to do.
And how could I leave you hanging without some sort of visual measurement?!?!?! …………Baby Dotson is equivalent to a Head of Cauliflower!
Also for anyone out there that had a natural birth I would like to hear your story. Feel free to post it in a comment or email them to me if you’d like. erikadotson@gmail.com
Enjoy!

Wow today is week 24! I can’t believe it.
Baby Dotson is about eight and a half inches long and weighs one and a half pounds, gaining steadily at a rate of six ounces per week. Much of that weight comes from accumulating baby fat, as well as from growing organs, bones, and muscle. His little ears are getting sharper and can hear very loud sounds, from a yapping dog to a jackhammer. Also by now, that fabulous face is almost fully formed, complete with eyelashes, eyebrows, and hair. Is he a brunette, a blonde, or a redhead? Actually, right now his locks are white since there’s no pigment yet!
Nipples are starting to sprout, and that little face is fully formed. And, baby Dotson is starting to settle into sleep cycles, snoozing about 12 to 14 hours a day. He’s the size of a papaya until week 25.

Enjoy!

I know I know Kori it’s two days late, but as they say better late than never! :)
I’ve been working on lots of different projects recently that have been pulling me in a hundred different directions so sorry for my blog absence. Today feels like my Monday (yikes have the week flew by already!). Pretty sure I’ll have to start dropping some plates soon!
So today (well Tuesday) is week 23. I went to the doctor yesterday and they measured my belly while I was lying on the table (man I should have asked her what the measurement was!), anyways I drank this HORRIBLE tasting liquid also known as Orange Flavored Cough Syrupy Disgusting Sugar Loaded Specialty Drink to test and see if I have gestational diabetes, which basically means developing diabetes during your pregnancy. And also got to hear Baby Dotson’s little heart beat, which was 154.
Our little doll-sized babe is about to chub up a bit. His saggy skin will start to fit his frame as fat deposits fill things out. Beginning this week, he’ll start to pack on the pounds (which means I will too!) and by month’s end he’ll be double the weight he is now (though I won’t be — whew!). Right now, Baby Dotson’s organs and bones are visible through his skin, which has a red hue due to developing veins and arteries beneath. But once those fat deposits settle in, he’ll become less transparent!

Enjoy!

This week, baby Dotson weighs in at a whopping pound and measures nearly eight inches, about the size of a small doll. But our little doll (who now has eyebrows, eyelashes, and maybe even some hair on his little head) is a living one who can now perceive light and dark. He can also hear our voice, my heartbeat, my gurgling stomach, and the whoosh-whoosh of blood circulating through my body. And as his brain and nerve endings develop, he may reach for his face (or whatever he can reach) just to experiment with his newfound sense of touch.

Enjoy!

Today is week 21 I believe! I think I may be feeling him moving around now? It’s occasional but I’m still not positive so if you ask me I’d probably say no. ha ha This is pretty gross but I’m having a hard time distinguishing gas and baby at the moment! Please don’t share that info too freely, I would appreciate it! :)
This week we’re back to fruits. Our little man is the size of a large banana. Apparently now what I eat he’ll be able to taste as well. That’s because he swallows a bit of amniotic fluid each day (for nutrition, hydration, and to practice digesting), so he eats whatever’s on my menu — and he gets to put those developing taste buds to good use!

Enjoy!

Today is 20 weeks! I seriously can’t believe we’re halfway there already! We had a big party on Sunday and found out that we are happily expecting a baby boy!!!! I can’t seem to figure out how to use the scanner so I may take some pictures of the ultrasound picture and post those a little later, but for now just knowing the news is enough! :)
He’s now the size of a cantaloupe (yay for fruit sizes again!). He should be weighing about 10 ounces (although he was about 12 when we went in on Thursday) and measuring 6.5 inches. The rest of this is gross but it’s all anatomy so just look at it scientifically…….”If you’re having a boy, his testicles have begun their descent from the abdomen to their ultimate destination — the scrotum”. They don’t give a whole lot of info beside that so that’s what you get to read tonight! :) Lucky you.

Enjoy!

I cannot believe that we go in on Thursday for our big ultrasound! It seems too soon! We are one week shy of being halfway. I’m sure the rest isn’t as easy and fun as the first, but I guess at this point there’s no choice but to find out! :)
Week 19
Have you ever seen a mango dipped in cheese? (nope I actually haven’t but anyways) Well, that’s what our baby looks like this week due to a little growth spurt (it’s about a half pound in weight and six inches long) and a substance called vernix caseosa. This greasy white stuff covers our baby’s skin, protecting it from the surrounding amniotic fluid. (Without it, baby would look totally wrinkled as it entered the world.) The vernix sheds as delivery approaches, though some babies still sport a bit of the coating at birth.
Although we go in to find out on Thursday we won’t actually be finding out the sex until Sunday. We plan on having the doctor write the sex in an envelope and delivering that envelope to our bakery. We are having a Gender Party on Sunday for our family and friends. We will have dinner and activities and then the final cake cutting to find out what we are having. I’m positive I’ll be posting that evening about our exciting news! I can’t wait to finally be calling this little child a he or a she rather than “it”. Saying “it” just seems so alien to me!!! In my head I’m hoping that knowing the sex will make this all a little bit more real to me and connected (I hate to admit that).
Oh and apparently I’m supposed to be able to feel some movement going on inside there, none yet, but I’ll let you know.

Enjoy!
