Tummy Tuesday

Tuesday, April 20th, 2010

Today is 20 weeks!  I seriously can’t believe we’re halfway there already!  We had a big party on Sunday and found out that we are happily expecting a baby boy!!!!  I can’t seem to figure out how to use the scanner so I may take some pictures of the ultrasound picture and post those a little later, but for now just knowing the news is enough!  :)

He’s now the size of a cantaloupe  (yay for fruit sizes again!).  He should be weighing about 10 ounces (although he was about 12 when we went in on Thursday) and measuring 6.5 inches.  The rest of this is gross but it’s all anatomy so just look at it scientifically…….”If you’re having a boy, his testicles have begun their descent from the abdomen to their ultimate destination — the scrotum”.  They don’t give a whole lot of info beside that so that’s what you get to read tonight!  :)  Lucky you.

Monday’s Favorites

Monday, April 19th, 2010

I am actually posting this on a Monday for once!!!!  :)  YAY.

I had a few color requests this week but I’m going to go with…..

BLACK:

Couture chic wedding cake by Peggy Porschen

I love this wedding cake!  I love the idea that you could make it personal by adding a little broach that was your grandmothers!  I love those little details!!!

Another Forever 21 find!  I love that store……seriously this is just $10.80!?!?!?

This too is from Forever 21 and I think it would be a perfect accessory for your special wedding hairstyle!

Anemone bouquet

This wedding bouquet is perfect for a black themed wedding!  I saw these and totally fell in love.  In case you are curious these flowers are known as anemones and they are beautiful!

Product Image Women's Mossimo® Isha Satin Pumps - Black

This would be a cute shoe from Target for just $22.99!

clear bottle candle holders

I thought this would be a nice alternative to flowers for your wedding reception.  Lots of people try cutting costs on centerpieces by not having flowers everywhere so why not start collecting wine bottles and candlesticks!!!  With a little thrifting too I’m sure you could gather all you needed!!!!

The Original Silver Lingerie, Wedding Dress Hanger

This really has nothing to do with a black wedding theme but more about some ranting to follow.  I just love love love these hangers from Lila Frances on Etsy.  Your wedding photographer will want pictures of your wedding gown before you slip into it so why would you show up with the ugly plastic hanger that it came with?  Why not spend a few bucks and invest in a nice pretty hanger?  You can get  a 10 pack of these pretty silky hangers at Target for $12.99.

Product Image

Ok I’m done with my hanger venting…………let’s continue.

Product Image Target Limited Edition Women's Marian Shift Dress - Ebony

What a cute bridesmaid dress from Target!!!!  I love the cut here and it keeps your black theme more classy instead of getting too casual.  Take a look through Targets dresses you’ll be sure to find lots of choices for all your girls as well as your budget!

What a perfect boutonniere to tie in the anemones!!!!  Or check out this DIY project to make your own!!!!

I have a deep love for candy bars that look classy such as this one!!!  Personally the candies/treats should all be the same color.  I actually had one of these at our first Christmas party and it was a hit!  Lots of work to find all white items but it was totally worth it, it was so cute!!!!  (Wish I would have taken some pictures!!!)

I just recently heard that  Anthropologie  and The Limited will be offering wedding gowns soon!!!!!

Anthropologie will unveil the line on Valentine’s Day 2011. Expect wedding dresses to fall in between $750-$5,000 and they will also carry bridesmaid options.

The Limited brand will debut two styles in June and another three in January 2011, all under $500.

Those will be wonderful places to get wedding attire, I can’t wait!!!!

That’s all for now!

Gender Reveal Party Results…..

Sunday, April 18th, 2010

So as you know we had our gender reveal party today

IMG_1675w

IMG_1673w

and I of course had to draw it out!  :)  I know everyone loved me for it.  We split up into teams Blue or Pink (as to which one you thought it was going to be).  And the Blue way out numbered the Pink!!!!

IMG_1682w

IMG_1690w

And of course I was wearing pink but if you’ve talked to me previously you would know I thought it was a girl but was rooting for a boy…….

BLUE vs. PINK :  (I’m not very good with videos at all so I uploaded them to youtube so either click the link or watch the video right here….i hope)  The blue team had a handicap because they had so much greater numbers than us so they had to pull with their left hand only……..

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5Z0-Yq2c7MQ&feature=youtube_gdata

And here’s the results everyone has been waiting for……..

I just want to take a minute and express how greatful I am for all of you who showed up as well as all those who were there in spirit (there were lots of those too!).  I was VERY surprised at how many people showed up at our home, but I was super thrilled too!  It was so nice to know that so many people loved us and were excited for us!  I had work friends, old high school friends, family, church friends, college friends, and just friends, it was a good time.  Thank you to everyone who brought food and everyone that helped out with getting prepared.  I hope everyone had a good time and left on a full stomach!!!!  (I feel like I just won an oscar!  :)   I also wanted to mention it was really wonderful to have my parents there, I’m super excited that they have moved up here so they can easily come to our parties like this as well as be able to be more of a part of this whole baby thing!!!!  I love you momma and your fruit was a big hit!  Thanks I love love love fruit!!!!  :)

Enjoy!

What an experience!

Thursday, April 15th, 2010

Today was our second ultrasound (but this is the big one where supposedly you find out what you are having).  In preparation for today I went for a walk then laid out in the sun with the doggies for an hour and got a little sunburned (nothing bad -it’s actually already gone- just added some color!)  TW came home and I decided I wanted to sport the color that we thought it was going to be.  While my shirt is very purple that’s the closest thing to pink I had, and obviously TW is team blue!  I thought it would be fun to have a shot of us before we went in with our guesses.

I can’t describe how cool it was to watch that little dude in there move around so much when I haven’t even felt it yet!  It was really amazing to me that we have technology like that.  Oh and little guys heart was pumping away!  I think it was about to burst out of his chest!  Yesterday I mentioned the heart rate was 158 and today it was 163.  We got some pictures of his face and profile (which I’ll go ahead and post on Sunday after our party).  We also got pictures of the boy/girl parts and they sealed them nicely in an envelope so we couldn’t peek.  We took them to Rick’s Bakery to have them make some cupcakes for us so we no longer have possession of those images, darn no cheating!!!!  While our tech was searching around in there we let her know ahead of time we can’t find out yet so she’d keep telling us “ok you can’t look right now”.  TW was trying to peek so hard!!!  We will find out on Sunday and I’m sure we’ll let you guys know!!!!

GOOD NEWS:  Baby has 10 fingers, 10 toes, 4 heart chambers, 2 arms, 2 legs, 2 kidneys, a spine, ribs, both sides of the brain, nose, mouth, stomach……..yay we aren’t having a weird alien!!!!

Congested

Wednesday, April 14th, 2010

I woke up terribly today.  It started with a charlie horse then I noticed I had a scratchy throat.  Now I’m all congested and I’ve been sneezing all day long.  Went to work, went to the Dr. (baby’s heart rate was 158), went grocery shopping, then went to the basketball awards banquet in Huntsville.  I remember those days………fun times I wouldn’t trade for the world!  Ok I’ve gotta not end on a complaining note so I am greatful that I get to spend the evening with my hubby and that he’s able to be home every night.  Right now that’s all I can muster up “feeling” greatful for, in other words I’m ready to go lay down!  Good Night.

Tummy Tuesday

Tuesday, April 13th, 2010

I cannot believe that we go in on Thursday for our big ultrasound!  It seems too soon!  We are one week shy of being halfway.  I’m sure the rest isn’t as easy and fun as the first, but I guess at this point there’s no choice but to find out!  :)

Week 19

Have you ever seen a mango dipped in cheese? (nope I actually haven’t but anyways) Well, that’s what our baby looks like this week due to a little growth spurt (it’s about a half pound in weight and six inches long) and a substance called vernix caseosa. This greasy white stuff covers our baby’s skin, protecting it from the surrounding amniotic fluid. (Without it, baby would look totally wrinkled as it entered the world.) The vernix sheds as delivery approaches, though some babies still sport a bit of the coating at birth.

Although we go in to find out on Thursday we won’t actually be finding out the sex until Sunday.  We plan on having the doctor write the sex in an envelope and delivering that envelope to our bakery.  We are having a Gender Party on Sunday for our family and friends.  We will have dinner and activities and then the final cake cutting to find out what we are having.  I’m positive I’ll be posting that evening about our exciting news!  I can’t wait to finally be calling this little child a he or a she rather than “it”.  Saying “it” just seems so alien to me!!!  In my head I’m hoping that knowing the sex will make this all a little bit more real to me and connected (I hate to admit that).

Oh and apparently I’m supposed to be able to feel some movement going on inside there, none yet, but I’ll let you know.

Auto Parts

How about renting a red classic car on your wedding day, or better yet you know someone that owns one?!?!?  I’m sure they’d love to be your chauffeur on your special day!  What a great way to get your favorite Uncle involved in your wedding!!!

Here’s a fun DIY project for your wedding:  These would make a great addition to a candy buffet for your guests!!!!

Fire Red Candy Apples

Ingredients
8 medium apples, green or red
2 3/4 cup(s) sugar
1 1/4 cup(s) light corn syrup
1 1/2 cup(s) water
1 teaspoon(s) vanilla
15 drops red food coloring
Wash and dry apples, remove stems and insert a wooden stick into the bottom (not stem end) of the apples; approximately 2/3 of the way into the apple. Set apples aside.
In saucepan, combine sugar, corn syrup and water. Heat slowly on low heat, stirring constantly. Once mixture starts to boil, stop stirring and leave boiling until candy mixture reaches 300°F on a candy thermometer, or until a small amount of mixture dropped into cold water separates into breakable threads.
Remove from heat and stir in food coloring. Wait until mixture stops bubbling, then add vanilla, mix well.
Dip each apple into the mixture while mixture is still hot, swirl to cover apple evenly. You will need to work fast to get all the apples dipped before mixture becomes too hard.
Place dipped apple on greased cookie sheet or greased wax paper.

A catch up post

Sunday, April 11th, 2010

I couldn’t get my blog post in last night bc I went out with TW his cousin Tyler and his brother Luke out to eat after I got off work and then to Walmart afterwards so we didn’t make it home until a couple minutes before midnight.  I did however get a shot in, just decided to post it today. ………  I’ve been a little  busy………

Family afternoon

Friday, April 9th, 2010

Today TW and I went on a little canoe float down the river.  We had originally planned to go camping tonight, but when we saw the weather was so beautiful we decided on a float anyways.  Well that and the fact both of us work in the morning and TW’s neck is still pretty sore from getting bucked off that horse earlier this week.  So this is a pretty funny little story.  We started off as usual, you know put the canoe in the water, get in, and paddle.  Ellie had a blast by the way and she was super duper tired on the way home (we made her swim and run alot  :)  Anyways we are floating along and TW notices these big huge blue water containers stuck in the brush, which there’s alot of it, I’m guessing from all the rain and snow we’ve had.  He thinks he needs whatever it is……..oh of course these will be perfect to feed my horses with.  ”I was going to have to make a horse trough anyways so I’ve gotta take these home”…….  my thinking ok fine, they will be at the other field and I’ll never have to see them in my yard.  He goes and gets them and attaches them to our canoe to float behind us.  We keep floating.  We came upon this paddle boat that was lodged in the brush as well.  TW just had to have this item too!!!  He seriously spent like 20 minutes moving it back and forth and tilting and pushing it to get it out.  He hopped on it and rode it to shore, where he spend another 20 minutes draining all the water out so he could attach that to the back of our canoe too…. I definitely made it very obvious that I didn’t want a paddle boat out sitting by our pond for the rest of our lives, people get those then they never touch them again!  Oh but he assured me he was going to make money off of it by selling it on craigslist.  So I’ll just put it out there that if you’d like to purchase our wonderful treasure you are more than welcome to contact me and I will load it up and deliver it!!!  By this point it’s getting pretty super close to sunset and I’m cold and hungry just wanting to go home.  We pull into the shore where our truck is parked and of course my self portrait has GOT to include our items that we river shopped for so I ran to the truck and set up my camera.  Please understand this is the best I could do to get a shot.  I had to balance my camera on some tree limbs and run in sand and hop in the canoe all in 10 seconds!  It’s not the best image, but you totally get the point!  :)
