The coolest rainboots ever!

January 31, 2010

I got these rainboots for my birthday a few years ago.  I was so excited about them.  I ordered them online from Target and they arrived in the mail.  I wore them everywhere!  Two days after I got them I left them outside on the back porch not thinking about my doggie (Roxy) being back there and I came home and they had a little tear in the top lining, which now served as a sentimental reminder of her presence.  Just over this little winter storm I realized how bad of shape these boots were in, I started noticing that my feet were getting really cold!  I soon also realized that even through 5 pairs of socks my feet were somehow wet as well.  I figured out the problem as seen here.  It’s officially time to retire the coolest rainboots ever!  :(  I’m so very upset.  I think this time though I’m going to invest in some snow boots as well as rain boots!  I definitely learned a difference between the two and the importance of each this winter!

I also learned what “rime” ice was today from the 4029 weather man.  I was so amazed by this awesome “icicle” looking snow this morning, as I described it to TW.  I took a few snapshots of it I was so amazed.  Well later on I found out that what I noticed what a new term to me.  It’s far less dangerous apparently, just prettier to look at.  I think it’s caused from the fog we had this morning, so I’m guessing you’ll be able to see it in the morning if you haven’t noticed it already.

Day of fun and games!

January 30, 2010

Today was a pretty fun day!  I love snow and especially when we get that much of it!  We built a bobsled type ramp, we sledded off huge hills, we pulled each other on tire inner tubes behind the 4 wheelers, and finished with a game on Monopoly.  I love that stinkin game!  I used to play it all the time when I was a kid.  I think all kids who grow up as only children love that game also.  Until tonight I was undefeated though, and to top it off I lost to someone who had NEVER won a game in his life…. Congrats TW.  I had to mortgage all my properties and sell off all my hotels and I still couldn’t pay him the $1150 rent when I landed on his property!!!

Lot’s of snow!!!

January 29, 2010

Today was a fun day at the Dotson household.  We woke up and had ourselves some breakfast together (this is a rare occasion so I love when we get to enjoy some morning time together).  Then off to help TW’s dad feed the cows.  Apparently it’s a pretty long process.  You’ve got someone driving the tractor pulling out one hay bail at a time while the other person has to cut all the strings off the bale so the cows don’t eat it.  Then you have me as seen here, holding an empty feed sack in which all the strings go in.  Now I’ll admit my job wasn’t THAT important or neither necessary but it was fun to tag along.  I will however like to clarify my main job today was to keep track of the doggies so they don’t chase the cattle.  You get in BIG trouble if you chase the cattle!  When the cows run they lose weight which means they weigh less when you take them to sell them which means you loose $$$$$!!!!  Don’t chase the cattle!  After that we went and ate lunch and headed off to the in-laws to ride 4 wheelers.  I love riding in the snow!  It’s so much fun!  It was so peaceful too to turn off the lights and the engines and just sit out there in the dark and talk.  Ellie proved herself to be a pretty tough pup today!  Midnight stopped where the river crosses, which granted it is probably running as tall as he is, but Ellie just trudged right through it!  I didn’t think she was that tough!  She stayed by our side the entire time.  My dog is so cool.  :)

Belly Thursday

January 29, 2010

My last image was a bit off as far as time goes, since we went in on Monday and they told us it was 7 weeks and 6 days.  That means I am now at 8 weeks and 2 days.  Here’s to Belly Thursdays!  I love this day right now because I already know all day what I’ll be doing for my self portrait!  I have a feeling I will love this day later because I’ll be excited to compare.  Nothing to compare today!

Did you know during week 8 the tongue begins to develop?!?!?

I originally tried to post this image around 5pm before we left for TW’s mom’s house but for some reason my internet would not let me load an image.  I had the whole blog already typed and ready to go.  Before we left TW promised me that we would be back by 11:30 so I could make my post………well long story short they all went 4 wheeling and got lost.  So we just now got home at 1:30am.

I also realized if we are without power I will still be taking my daily picture, but I obviously may not be able to upload them for a little while!  Please weather behave so I can blog!  :)

Last night as we lit our fire and headed off to bed TW made a comment that he thought it was really hot in our living room so he checked out the thermostat.  Apparently it maxes out at 80 degrees and it was reading at 80 so who knows how hot it really was in our home last night!   Once again I wasn’t too happy of the idea of having a “ugly” looking wood stove in the middle of our home, but I sure to like that we can have a home at 80 degrees without having to turn on our heater!!!  TW and I prepared for the weather coming up by gathering some wood he has previously cut.  I obviously wasn’t going to be lifting up the huge pieces, like he was, but I still helped out a little!  I told him if my readers saw me lifting a huge log I wouldn’t stop hearing about it.  So rest assured I only lifted the baby wood.  It was good to get out and help my husband do somethings around the house outside.  Usually when it’s so cold like it has been I don’t go outside much.  He bundles up and toughs out the cold to do the work around the house that needs to be done.  I am so greatful to have TW for my husband, he’s honestly such a hard worker.  He’s weird…he LOVES work.  On a Saturday morning, when he could be sleeping in, he wakes up early and finds work to do!  I love him.

Thank you sweetheart.

I don’t really feel like repeating our last ice storm.  The last time I had my wisdom teeth pulled the day it started!  And on top of that I failed to go grocery shopping beforehand so hardly had any food that I could eat!  As we started to leave for TW’s parents house (we should have left way earlier) but the roads we covered in trees making it near impossible to travel through them.  We got to one section of the road that had a huge tree we couldn’t make our way around, then a huge tree fell right behind us trapping us in on this dirt road.  TW tried to get me out of the car to walk all the way to his parents house, but I was on so much medication I couldn’t even stand up!  How’s that for a ice storm partner!  He called on his two brothers Luke and Andy who made their way toward us (which seemed like forever as we prayed that the trees wouldn’t fall on our vehicle) with chainsaws and cut our way out.  I’m pretty sure I thanked them, but thanks again!  It was a horrible mess.  Our refrigerator leaked warping our kitchen floor.  Which does anyone have any advice on how to keep that from happening again?  I should probably get on that if we plan on not having power for several days.

48-hr Rain/Snow Forecast

My advice: Get somewhere where someone has a generator.  Get some food stocked up.  Make sure your doggies and kitties have water to drink everyday! Get out all your warm blankets.  If you have a fireplace you better go chop down some wood and store it where it won’t get wet.  Make sure you aren’t low on propane.  Enjoy your warm showers now.  Plan on spending some good quality time with your family.

Just another day

January 26, 2010

Today was a day for my “I don’t feel cute” outfit.  I was told I looked very Audrey Hepburn on her off day, which oddly enough gave me a nice little boost for the day.  I just feel frumpy today.  I’m a girl so you’re going to hear about it.  I’m sorry if you don’t want to hear about it, but at least all you have to do is read it, I had to feel it ALL day!  But now I’m home with my Ellie (and our new black lab “Midnight” (who’s one of Roxy’s pups) waiting on the husband to beat some Farmington butts in basketball!  ;)  and everything is much more comfy.  I bought a whole bunch of healthy tasty food today and a movie.  I’m sorry my post is a little random today.  Did I mention I didn’t get much sleep last night?  I was having nightmares about being abducted by aliens…….

New news…

January 25, 2010

TW and I went to the doctor today to find out our actual due date rather than a guess from me, since I’m horrible at keeping up with the girly side of my life.  We thought originally that our due date was going to be August 28th, we have since found out it looks more like September 8th.  I’m sure we’ll keep you all updated so no worries.  I still plan on shooting all my weddings and any new ones coming for June, July, and as much of August as this kiddo will allow (hopefully all of it).  I have a wedding on August 21st that I totally plan on attending so that will most likely be the last wedding before the Dotson addition makes it’s way.  As for September I plan on probably taking most of the month off, if you are getting married in September and are interested in hiring us, do give us a call first.  Anyways enough business talk……this image is obviously us at the girly doctor today.  (I use lots of undescribable words because using “correct” terms makes me feel weird).  I also don’t want to ward off any readers!  :)  I wanted to take a picture to describe how I felt and where I was.

TW was talked into purchasing a 4 wheeler by his brothers and sister…….  As you can tell I am a little bit bitter about this.  Everyone was pushing and urging him when we knew we were having a baby, but no one else did.  I mentioned to him that wasn’t a smart move financially.  We talked and then I decided that if it’s his money he can do whatever he wants with it (obviously to an extent).  Plus I think the idea of having our own 4 wheeler again was enticing to me as well.  :)  We always go to his parents house on Sundays after church to get in some good valued family time.  Much more recently all us young kids would go out 4 wheeling.  I joined along today.

Busy Lady

January 23, 2010

Today consisted of editing, doing dishes, napping, selling a dog, walking to the mailbox, keeping the fire going, cleaning up our home, and doing laundry (as seen here).  These are all the things I haven’t been doing for the last few weeks out of pure exhaustion.  I can’t even begin to tell you how many days TW came home from work and I was asleep on the couch.  I know I know I know enjoy the sleep now, believe me that I am!  I woke up a few times this morning but didn’t actually “wake” up (meaning: get out of bed)  until 12:30 today!  Just wait til wedding season kicks in and I don’t have a whole Saturday to do what I need to get done!  YIKES!  I’m scared to see our house then!!!!
